Microsurgery

Microsurgery

Microsurgery is a surgical technique used for structures in the human body that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Procedures are performed using operating microscopes and magnifying surgical loupes, along with specially designed instruments that allow surgeons to repair damage in vessels and nerves smaller than 1 mm. Microsurgery is widely applied in neurosurgery, urology, ophthalmology, and particularly hand surgery, enabling the restoration of blood flow, repair of injured vessels and nerves, and correction of congenital or acquired deformities. Advances in reconstructive microsurgery now allow damaged or deformed body parts to regain their normal shape and function. Severed limbs can be reattached, and delicate sutures allow precise nerve repair, restoring their original function.
