BUTTOCK LIFT

BUM LIFTING / GLUTEOPLASTY

Time, pregnancy or large weight loss can give a ‘square’ picture to the buttocks, which occurs when there is a volume deficit in the upper buttocks while there is an excess in the lower part. In order to get the glutes back to their original position and reshape this area of the body, it is common to carry out a procedure that seeks to correct “gluteal ptosis”.

HOW THE PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED

The most traditional butt lift is where excess fat and skin are removed through an elliptical incision in the lower back, from hip to hip. Too much surplus fat will make you ineligible for this procedure. The surgeon may also tighten your underlying muscles and create sutures deep within your tissue to hold your now-smooth buttocks in a lifted position.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SURGERY

The results of a gluteal lift are visible almost immediately. However, the tissues will need to settle within the first 3-6 months and it may take up to two years for incision lines to mature.

Most of the swelling should subside within the first six weeks, although your final result may not be fully visible until a year after your procedure. Although the scars are permanent, they will improve over time, continue to flatten and fade for up to two years.

RECOVERY

In the first week it is recommended to take short walks during this time to reduce swelling and keep your blood moving properly.

Two to three weeks after your procedure, you may be able to resume normal activities, except for squatting, stretching, or more strenuous exercise.

Two to six months after your procedure, most of your discoloration and inflammation should have diminished. Most patients are fully recovered at this point.
